SMALL STUDIO. DEEP POSSIBILITIES.

Good ideas.
Thoughtful software.
Forged at the well.

We’re The Black Well Foundry — an independent studio that designs, builds and publishes mobile apps. We draw ideas up from the well and shape them in the foundry into useful software for the phone in your pocket, one carefully built app at a time.

INDEPENDENT APP STUDIO EST. 2026

WHAT WE’RE BUILDING

Our first chapters.

A growing collection of apps.
Starting with ServerMage and Cipherkin.

01 / OUR FIRST APP

ServerMage.

A little magic for your home server.

Install and look after self-hosted apps on your own Linux server, right from your iPhone: Jellyfin, Immich, Nextcloud, Pi-hole and Uptime Kuma, with more on the way. Updates with automatic rollback, scheduled backups, health alerts and simple web addresses for every app, without the terminal.

With Pro, reach the apps you choose from anywhere over trusted HTTPS, through your own domain and a Cloudflare Tunnel, with no router ports opened.

THE BLACK WELL FOUNDRY / APP 001

ServerMage A LITTLE MAGIC. A LOT OF INTENTION.

02 / OUR SECOND APP

Cipherkin.

A little mystery between friends.

Turn a note into a sealed secret, send it through Messages or email, and let your friend open it in Cipherkin. Every theme has its own way to seal and reveal: Classic Cipher, Arcane Runes, Secret Agent and Pirate’s Code.

Classic Cipher is free, and opening a note is always free. A one-time unlock adds the premium themes and lets you set a password of your own. No accounts, no ads, no tracking.

More ideas are taking shape.

There’s more in the well.

THE STUDIO BEHIND THE APPS

Built with care.
Published with purpose.

Every app starts with a simple idea: software should make something better.

The Black Well Foundry is an independent home for those ideas. We design, develop and publish our own apps, giving each one a clear purpose, a considered experience, and room to grow.

Thoughtful designSmall, focused apps that respect your time and attention.
Privacy firstWe collect only what an app needs to work, and nothing to sell.
Independent spiritWe answer to the people who use our apps.
